AUF SKINS (german) = ON SKINS (english) Pinot Gris/Riesling/Gewürztraminer picked high up in the Adelaide Hills
Gökotta (“yok-oota”) is the act of rising early to hear the birds sing. This wine is a nod to a blend typically seen from the southern Rhone Valley, utilising Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault grapes. Our version is hand-picked early in the season, early in the morning, and best enjoyed in it’s youth (hence the name).
Our bright and vibrant fresh release of the season. A blend of Grenache (71%), Tempranillo (21%) and Monastrell (8%) gently fermented, basket pressed and bottled without any added sulphites.
Inzolia is a rare white variety that originates from Sicily, known for big, crunchy berries with a golden skin and low acidity. We are lucky to work with a passionate grower in the Adelaide Hills, who is one of only a handful of people in Australia to have planted Inzolia.
Grown at Piccadilly Valley and hand picked at optimal ripeness, when the skins have a nice golden hue and the berries are full of flavour, but the natural acidity hasn’t dipped away too much. Ci piace!
Nero d’Avola is without a doubt one of the jewels in the Sicilian winemaking crown, with it’s dark berried characters and medium bodied nature. Our Nero is grown at a single vineyard in the Piccadilly Valley and hand picked at optimal flavour ripeness, with voluptuous tannins. A glass of this often spills over into a long lunch with mates on a sun-drenched afternoon.
This wine celebrates the natural coloured skins of the Pinot Gris grape, which have a rosy, coppery hue. It is a distinct wine style called ramato, meaning ‘copper’ in Italian, and lands somewhere between an orange wine and a rosé. With the added textural component that the skin contact gives the wine, it is extremely food-friendly and partners up with a wide array of dishes. Bottled without fining or filtration.
Valentine’s Day looks a little different in 2022, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still celebrate the people we love. So we’ve made your life easier with our Vino Valentino package – the perfect at home Italian indulgence.
The package includes Michael’s hand selected, Sicilian inspired wines to help transport you to that place you visited last decade (or might be dreaming of visiting in the not so distant future).
The wines are perfectly matched with your flavour-rich Italian cooking staples from some of our favourite South Australian producers. Plus, Michael has put together a couple of main meal recipes (including one vegetarian) and a chocolate-based dessert recipe for you to follow along the way. (He’s even thrown in some salted caramel chocolate to finish off your Valentine’s date and a romantic Italian Spotify playlist to shimmy along to.)
