Marcello Brini has taken the reigns of the family’s vineyard in Blewitt Springs, which his father planted back in 1950, after arriving from Italy with five pounds to his name. It is a revered site, particularly for Grenache. The gnarly appearance of the old bush vines above ground reveals just a small part of their history. The real stories lay deep within the sandy soils, as their twisted roots bunkered down over the decades for nutrients and water. This has created a robust vine structure, which can tolerate long periods of hot dry weather and produces special Grenache fruit with intense aromatics, layers of flavours and elegant tannins.
