Andrew Cottell established his vineyard in 1998, at Parish Hill Road, Uraidla in the Piccadilly Valley. He has delved deep into the world of Italian grape varieties and has over a dozen different types now in the ground on his steep, sunny slope. At 510 metres elevation ASL, it is the highest vineyard that we are lucky enough to work with. Here we source the Sicilian wonders of Grillo and Inzolia (also referred to as Ansonica in Tuscany). With the cool elevation at this site, the grapes retain their acidity beautifully, while slowly building their full array of delicate flavours. It’s a fun day when it comes to hand picking up here, with the peak of vintage behind us, we can slow down with a gourmet pie from Uraidla and take in the beautiful views of Mount Lofty.
